Smile Code- Episodes 11-12
Episode 11 Recap: Sweet Regrets, Starry Lights, and a Dash of Chaos
This episode of Smile Code had it all—drunken memories, heartfelt mother-daughter moments, romantic sparks, and even a hilarious blind date gone wrong. Let’s dive into the whirlwind that unfolded:
Morning Regrets and Sweet Memories
Gu Yi wakes up dizzy, piecing together foggy memories of her drunken antics the night before. Equal parts regretful and giddy, she can’t stop replaying the embarrassing yet sweet moments she shared with Liang Daiwen.
Later at work, the team debates the theme of love for their new design project. Gu Yi passionately defends her perspective, even as her colleagues push back. Xu Guanrui quietly sides with her, sharing insights about the evolution of love from youthful passion to maturity. Gu Yi listens… sort of. Her mind is clearly elsewhere (hint: Liang Daiwen).
Talk Show Tears and Motherly Wisdom
Gu Yi shares personal childhood stories during her talk show, reflecting on the wisdom her mother imparted and how it shaped her. Her heartfelt words bring her mother, watching in the audience, to tears. She realizes just how far her daughter has come.
But just as quickly as she arrives, Gu Yi’s mother leaves without a word. Despite her quiet departure, her love and worry for her daughter remain evident. Gu Yi later discovers a lovingly prepared meal waiting for her at home, a subtle reminder of her mother’s enduring care.
A Starry Retreat Under the Bed
In a tender, almost magical moment, Gu Yi and Liang Daiwen hide under a bed covered with fairy lights, escaping the world outside. Liang opens up about his childhood dreams of stars—dreams he eventually let go of as life’s struggles overwhelmed him. Gu Yi, sensing the pain he carries, encourages him to stay a little longer, offering quiet support that resonates deeply with Liang.
For the first time, Liang finds himself watching Gu Yi with newfound appreciation. His heart begins to race as he realizes that maybe, just maybe, he’s been drawn to her all along.
Blind Date Blunders and Lingering Sparks
In a hilariously humbling turn, Gu Yi tries her luck on a blind date, only to be dismissed by a series of unimpressed potential mothers-in-law. “None of them liked me!” she jokes, embracing the comedic tragedy of her situation.
Meanwhile, Liang visits his psychiatrist, Lao Shen, who notices significant changes in him. Despite Liang’s insistence that Gu Yi is just a minor influence, it’s clear he’s warming to her presence. For someone who once pushed people away, his growing acceptance of Gu Yi speaks volumes.
Unresolved Feelings and Complicated Connections
Elsewhere, Xu Guanrui grapples with his feelings for Gu Yi, unwilling to let go despite knowing she’s drawn to Liang. Guan Xingxin, meanwhile, finds herself torn between Yu Dule’s earnest pursuit and Uncle Lu’s interest—even as Uncle Lu’s child complicates things. It’s a tangled web of emotions, and everyone’s hearts seem a little out of sync.
Script Killing and Sweet Escapes
Gu Yi attempts to distract herself with a round of “script killing,” but even that can’t dull the emotional chaos swirling around her. Xu Guanrui’s performance at work wins praise from everyone, and Guan Xingxin ends the night by asking Yu Dule to escort her home. Sparks are everywhere, but which ones will catch fire?
Episode 12 Recap: Jealous Stares, Festive Apples, and Romantic Sparks
This episode of Smile Code brought playful banter, unexpected confessions, and a growing love triangle to the forefront. With emotions running high and jealousy simmering just below the surface, here’s what went down:
Xu Guanrui’s Playful Teasing and Jealous Observations
Xu Guanrui, ever the charming jokester, likened Gu Yi to a modern-day Yu Gong trying to move mountains—or, in this case, open Liang Daiwen’s stoic heart. Gu Yi, catching onto his teasing, laughed along, but their lighthearted conversation didn’t sit well with Liang Daiwen, who watched from afar with a face like a storm cloud.
Xu, never one to hold back, called out Liang’s sour expression to his face, much to Gu Yi’s amusement. Despite the tension, Gu Yi encouraged Liang to explore his emotions and embrace them fully. Her words seemed to hit home, even if Liang’s idea of embracing emotions involved lying on the ground to “sleep peacefully.” Classic Liang.
Is Liang Jealous? Gu Yi Thinks So
Gu Yi couldn’t shake the feeling that Liang’s mood swings were fueled by jealousy, though he seemed blissfully unaware of it himself. Still, her persistent efforts to reach him emotionally were finally bearing fruit, leaving her quietly thrilled.
Yu Dule’s Direct Confession to Guan Xingxin
Meanwhile, Yu Dule took a bold step and confessed to Guan Xingxin that he’d been drawn to her since the day he joined the company. Guan, surprised but candid, admitted she wasn’t sure how to express feelings after years of being controlled by her parents. Though her psychiatrist advised against starting a relationship, Yu dismissed these as mere “hardware issues” and seemed undeterred.
Late-Night Care and Lingering Connections
That night, Liang showed his softer side, covering Gu Yi with a quilt when she fell asleep and sitting by her bedside as he worked. When Gu Yi woke up disoriented and went to check on him, Liang appeared from behind her, leaving her flustered. Gu Yi joked about “raising him well,” but Liang dismissed it as a sweet-talking lie—though his expression said otherwise.
Tensions at Work and Liang’s Plans to Leave
Back at the company, the “female devil” (Zhang Junjie) was in a frenzy, driven by her ex-husband’s antics to speed up deadlines. The office atmosphere was electric with tension, and even Xu Guanrui couldn’t help but notice her unusually combative mood.
Meanwhile, Liang dropped a bombshell: he told Mr. Zhang he planned to resign, leaving no room for negotiation. As he walked through the city, the festive vibe of Christmas Eve caught his attention. Liang impulsively bought a “Ping An” apple—a symbol of peace—and headed home to wait for Gu Yi, only to find she wasn’t there.
Dinner Drama and Emotional Realizations
Gu Yi was out having dinner with Xu Guanrui, unaware of Liang’s plans. Liang spotted them from outside and felt a pang of emotion he couldn’t quite describe. Seeking advice from Lao Shen, Liang compared his feelings to buying an apple only to have it snatched away. Lao Shen, ever the wise psychiatrist, encouraged Liang to “go after the apple” if he wanted it back.
Determined, Liang confronted Xu Guanrui later, his eyes brimming with unspoken hostility. The love triangle was heating up, and the stakes were clear.
A Power Outage and a Romantic Surprise
Gu Yi was busy decorating when a sudden power outage startled her. As she turned on the lights, she was shocked to find Liang standing quietly behind her. The moment was charged with emotion as the two stood together, the festive atmosphere giving their connection an undeniable spark.
Liang later revealed to Gu Yi that Mr. Zhang was actually his senior sister and that there was no romantic relationship between them. This revelation seemed to ease Gu Yi’s concerns, especially when Liang produced the apple he’d bought for her. The small gesture left Gu Yi pleasantly surprised—and maybe even a little moved.
DramaZen's Opinion
Gu Yi’s connection with Liang grows stronger, as both begin to realize how much they’ve impacted each other. At the same time, unresolved feelings and love triangles continue to stir the pot, leaving everyone a little tangled. Will Liang finally admit his feelings for Gu Yi? I can see him telling her that he likes her just yet, even though it's quite obvious he does.
I love that Gu Yi got to perform infront of her mother. It let her mother see how much comedy means to her daughter and how happy it makes Gu Yi. I'm worried that her mother keeps having stomach pains though. It feels like the writers are forshadowing what is to come. 🥺
The stars under the bed surprise by Liang was just the sweetest and such a cute idea! 🥰 I love that they shared the moment and Liang opened up to her about how he used to dream of the stars. He is letting her know his world lacks color now since he was 10 years old, but she just smiles and brings the color without him noticing. However, maybe he does know and is just still being defiant.
I'm kind of confused as to why Guan Xingxin is weighing her options between Yu Dule and Uncle Lu. I mean it's rather obvoius that Yu Dule is her green light! The man confessed to her and she of course hesitated, but it's obvious he would heal all those hurts floating around in her heart.
We are starting to get hints of jealousy from Liang when it comes to Gu Yi and Xu Gaunrui. It's about time he realizes that men are flocking around Gu Yi and he needs to make a move. Like he said: His favorite apple was about to be taken by someone else. LOL ...🤣🤣🤣
It looks like Liang's senior and boss is going to be a future issue. Ughh....another love rival! Will Liang finally fight for Gu Yi, or will his hesitation cost him?
