Sorry Not Sorry- Episode 5
This week’s episode of Sorry Not Sorry was packed with hilarious misunderstandings, heartfelt bonding, and even a touch of danger. Song-yi’s quest for love takes center stage as she confronts her loneliness and tries to navigate her complicated life. Let’s break it all down!
Picking up from last week’s cliffhanger, Chan-yang directly asks Song-yi if she’s having an affair with her husband, Jin-ho. (Awkward!) Hana jumps to Song-yi’s defense but accidentally reveals that Song-yi is Jin-ho’s ex-girlfriend. Whoops! Chan-yang, ever the amateur sleuth, admits she had already been suspicious thanks to Jin-ho’s odd behavior and her own reconnaissance (binoculars included).
When Song-yi finally finds her words, she explains that her relationship with Jin-ho is strictly in the past and shows the messages to prove it. Chan-yang, instead of being upset, is amused — even grateful — that Jin-ho actually has a past. This unexpected honesty sparks a budding friendship between the three women.
A hilarious and surprisingly deep bonding moment occurs when Song-yi has a bathtub accident and Chan-yang, hearing her cries through the toilet pipes, rushes to save her. Their absurd interaction, complete with Chan-yang’s blunt remark about dying alone on the bathroom floor, is laugh-out-loud funny but also hits Song-yi where it hurts.
Later, as the trio chats over coffee, Song-yi admits she doesn’t want to grow old alone. Chan-yang suggests joining a club to meet someone organically, setting the stage for the next chapter in Song-yi’s search for love.
Taking Chan-yang’s advice, Song-yi joins a running club in the hopes of finding companionship. Little does she know, her neighbor Hyun-woo is also a member! Song-yi’s petty streak comes out in full force as she tries to ignore him, but the universe isn’t letting her off the hook. When she takes a tumble while stretching, Hyun-woo catches her, leading to an awkward yet undeniably charged moment.
The club goes out for dinner, and Song-yi discovers she’s not the only divorcee looking for a fresh start. Hyun-woo and Song-yi spend most of the evening whispering and gossiping about the other members, which is both adorable and telling.
Things take a turn when one man bombards Song-yi with questions about her finances, career, and plans for children. Song-yi realizes she’s not here to check someone’s boxes — she wants true love. Hyun-woo, overhearing her passionate speech, can’t hide his smile as he listens from a distance. On their walk home, Song-yi even asks Hyun-woo to walk with her instead of following behind. Baby steps, people!
The lighthearted tone shifts as Song-yi and Hyun-woo discuss a murderer on the loose and the reward money for catching him. Their conversation takes a strange turn when they run into a mysterious man in black. Unmasking him, they discover it’s Hana’s husband, who quickly bolts, leaving them confused.
In a wild twist, the real murderer appears, and Song-yi fearlessly jumps on him, only to get overpowered. Hyun-woo steps in to help but gets bitten by Song-yi in the chaos (LOL!). Just when things look dire, Hana’s husband returns and knocks the killer out, saving the day.
The drama doesn’t end there. Hana’s husband begs Song-yi and Hyun-woo not to tell Hana about seeing him, revealing he’s been secretly working as a part-time food delivery driver. His odd behavior raises suspicions, leaving Song-yi torn between protecting her friend and respecting her husband’s wishes.
DramaZen's Opinion
This episode had everything — friendship, romance, and even a wild showdown with a murderer! First of all, can we talk about Song-yi, Hana, and Chan-yang? I’m loving this trio so much. Their chaotic bathtub-to-bonding moments are hilarious, and Chan-yang’s bluntness is absolutely iconic. The way she talks about dying alone on the bathroom floor? I shouldn’t have laughed as hard as I did, but I couldn’t help it!
And then there’s Hyun-woo. I am 100% here for the slow-burn between him and Song-yi. That running club scene where he catches her mid-tumble? I was screaming! Plus, the way he smiles while overhearing her speech about wanting true love? Swoon. These two are so meant to be, and the universe knows it.
The end of the episode was wild. From Hana’s husband sneaking around to the actual murderer showing up, my heart was racing! And of course, Song-yi had to make it hilarious by biting Hyun-woo in the process. 😂 But now I’m really curious about Hana’s husband — what is he hiding?
This show keeps getting better with every episode. The perfect mix of comedy, romance, and drama has me counting down the days until next week! 💕
