Strong Hearts: The Legacy of Do Sisters- By: Tina Marie
Chapter 21 - Operation Chimera
Back at home, Bong Soon stood in the hallway, phone clutched to her ear.
"They activated Chimera," she said, her voice sharp. "Send everything we have to the twins. They’ll need it before sunrise."
Min Hyeok appeared behind her. "You knew this was coming."
"I just hoped it wouldn’t come so soon."
In Ji Woo’s lab, the twins were reviewing Chimera’s file.
Height: 6’4”
Weight: Unknown (classified)
Abilities: Strength adaptation, thermal manipulation, multi-phase aggression cycles
Notes: Cannot be reasoned with. Cannot be stalled. Only neutralized.
Rae tilted her head. "They made a fire-breathing tank with fists."
Rin added, "And it’s already been released into Seoul’s industrial district. If we wait, the casualty count multiplies."
Ji Woo handed them each a device.
"Tracker beacons. One for you. One for Chimera. Once it’s in range, it’ll ping and give you a 30-second reaction window."
Rae clipped hers on. "That’s all I need."
Nightfall. The twins arrived at the edge of the district—silent factories casting long shadows, steel crates stacked like tombstones.
The air was thick with chemical fog and distant echoes.
Rin scanned. "No signal yet."
Then her beacon buzzed.
Rae’s eyes narrowed. "Thirty seconds."
A blast of heat hit them before anything else.
Then, out of the haze, Chimera emerged.
Humanoid but grotesquely modified. Skin veined with metal. Eyes glowing. Flames flickering between its teeth.
It roared, and the pavement cracked.
Rin whispered, "You take left. I go right?"
Rae grinned. "Like old times."
They charged.
The fight was not clean.
Chimera moved like a machine, learned with every strike, countered like it had fought them a thousand times. Rin’s attacks slowed it, but only Rae’s raw force made it stumble.
Until it caught Rae mid-air and hurled her through a shipping container.
Rin screamed, sprinting toward her.
"You okay?!"
From inside the dented metal box, Rae groaned. "Definitely bruised. Maybe a little concussed. Still hot, though."
She stumbled out.
"Buy me ten seconds. I’ve got a new trick to try."
Rin nodded and dashed forward, using every ounce of speed, dodging the flames, redirecting Chimera’s focus.
Rae closed her eyes. Focused inward. That pulse she felt in the serum—the energy.
She drew it out. Into her hands. Into her core.
When she opened her eyes, they glowed silver.
She sprinted.
Launched.
And punched Chimera so hard, the ground beneath them shattered.
The monster fell—sparking, groaning, but alive.
Rin moved beside her, breath ragged. "Together?"
Rae nodded.
They struck in perfect sync.
And Chimera didn’t get up.
Later, as the police surrounded the scene, the sisters vanished into the shadows.
But the city had seen them.
And Do Mi Na had, too.
