Strong Hearts: The Legacy of Do Sisters- By: Tina Marie
Chapter 4 - The Woman Who Walked Away
It was just past midnight when Do Bong Soon knocked on her daughters’ bedroom door.
She didn’t wait for permission. She walked in and sat down between them on the floor, barefoot, silent, and serious in a way they rarely saw.
“You found her, didn’t you?” she said to Rin.
Rin nodded. “Do Mi Na. She was one of us.”
“She was your aunt,” Bong Soon said quietly. “My older sister.”
Rae blinked. “You have a sister?!”
“Had,” Bong Soon corrected. “We don’t speak anymore.”
Flashback — 1998.
Do Mi Na wasn’t like Bong Soon. She didn’t joke. Didn’t giggle. She believed strength should be power, not protection.
When she turned 18, she didn’t hide her gifts.
She competed. Dominated. Became a street legend. And when the press started asking questions, Mi Na answered.
“Why should I stay small to make the world comfortable?” she once said on live TV.
The public loved her… until she snapped.
An attempted kidnapping. A hostage situation. Mi Na intervened—but went too far. The building collapsed. No one died, but the message was clear:
The strong woman had become a weapon.
The government hushed it up. Bong Soon's family did the rest.
They erased her.
Back in the present, Bong Soon stared at her daughters.
“I never told you because I didn’t want you to think power means domination. Mi Na forgot the one thing we stand for—use it to protect, not to punish.”
“She didn’t forget,” Rin said softly. “She just got tired of hiding.”
Bong Soon’s expression flickered.
“Maybe. But tired or not, she broke the rule. And that rule protects all of us.”
Just then, Rae’s phone buzzed.
A link. An untraceable sender.
A video of Rae from earlier that night—slowed down, edited, and enhanced.
In the caption:
“We’ve been watching you. Come meet the others. Before they do.”
Attached was an address.
Empty warehouse.
3:00 AM.
No other info.
Rin looked at Rae. “It’s a trap.”
Rae looked at Rin. “Exactly why I’m going.”
Bong Soon stood up. “You’re not going alone.”
Elsewhere, in a secure lab, a woman in a long coat watched the same video on a screen. She wore gloves and sunglasses, her face half-shadowed.
A young technician spoke beside her.
“Do you want us to intercept?”
The woman shook her head.
“No. Let the girl come. She deserves to know how deep this goes.
And if she’s anything like her mother…”
Pause.
“…she’ll come looking for me eventually.”
She pulled off the glasses.
It was Do Mi Na.
