Chapter 60 - Bloodline Breakpoint

Last Updated on 2025-06-12 22:20:25

South Chungcheong – Reika’s Original Lab, 6:03 PM

A ghost facility buried in the mountains. Half-flooded, power lines hissing. It smelled like ozone, scorched metal, and memories too heavy to name.

Do Rae and Do Rin stood side by side in front of the rusted doors.

Behind them: Jin Seok, Kang Jae, and the Legacy strike team.

Ahead of them: Do Reika—waiting.

The doors opened on their own.

Interior – Central Chamber

Reika stood at the heart of a vast chamber lit by unstable red light. The NEXUS CORE pulsed beside her, now fused to her back like a second spine.

She looked like both of them.
And nothing like either.

“You came,” she said.

“Of course we did,” Rae snapped. “You stole something that doesn’t belong to you.”

“Wrong. I am what belongs. You two were just… prototypes.”

Rin stepped forward, calm and lethal. “You’re not better. Just louder.”

Reika smiled. “We’ll see.”

She slammed her hand into the Core.

The room exploded with kinetic force.

The Fight

It wasn’t like the others. This was power without fear. No holding back.
Rae took the brunt, matching Reika blow for blow in pure physicality.
Rin moved with calculated precision, trying to disconnect the neural surge from the Core.

Jin Seok and Kang Jae backed them with support fire and tech disruption—but Reika adapted fast.

Too fast.

She was evolving in real time.

“She’s rewriting her own strength,” Jae shouted. “The longer we fight, the worse it gets.”

“Then we don’t give her time,” Rae growled, launching herself forward.

She grabbed Reika mid-strike, locking her in a grapple.

“Rin! Now!”

Rin didn’t hesitate. She plunged her gauntlet into the Core interface and activated override.

The pulse hit like a lightning strike.

Rae and Reika were thrown across the chamber.

Silence. Smoke. Sparks.

Rae lay crumpled on the ground.

Reika staggered, one knee down.

“You can’t stop me,” Reika hissed.

Rin walked toward her slowly.

“No. But I can show you what you missed.”

She opened a small panel on her gauntlet.

A memory feed played.

Do Bong Soon.
An Min Hyeok.
The girls. Their training. Their laughter. Their losses.

“Strength wasn’t meant to isolate us,” Rin said. “It was meant to protect what matters.”

Reika’s hands trembled.

For the first time, her eyes looked… human.

Then the Core behind her surged violently.

A final overload. A fail-safe.

Rae crawled to her sister. “We have to shut it down.”

“I know.”

Together, they slammed their fists into the Core.

The lights shattered.

One Week Later — Seoul

Reika was in a coma. Neural pathways too unstable to repair.

The world never learned the full story.

But the Do Sisters became something new: symbols not just of strength, but of balance.

Later — Rooftop Garden

Rae leaned into Jin Seok’s side as fireworks bloomed in the distance.

“You still think you’re out of my league?” she asked.

“Nope,” he said. “I think I won the lottery.”

They kissed, quietly.

Down below, Rin walked beside Kang Jae.

“Still think I’m too dangerous to trust?” she teased.

“Yes,” he said. “But I’m dangerous too.”

She smiled. “Then we’ll figure it out together.”
