Chapter 65 - The Reckoning Room

Geneva – United Nations Black Summit

Behind a titanium door, in a soundproof chamber far from any cameras or applause, sat the real power players.

World leaders. Military strategists. Intelligence directors.
No fanfare. No public posturing.

Just Do Rae, Do Rin, and a room full of people who didn’t care about hero worship.

“This isn’t a PR meeting,” said the Chancellor of the Pan-Euro Alliance. “This is accountability.”

Rin folded her arms. “Then say what you mean.”

“You were given the chance to permanently neutralize global conflict triggers. You declined. That decision may cost millions.”

Rae’s jaw tightened. “You want to turn emotion into software. We chose not to let you.”

The U.S. Secretary of Defense leaned forward. “That tech was salvageable. With control, we could’ve made weapons obsolete.”

“You don’t want peace,” Rin said. “You want obedience.”

Silence.

The Chinese ambassador cleared her throat. “Let’s set morality aside for a moment. Practically speaking—your unilateral choice set a precedent. What gives you the right to decide what humanity should access?”

Rae responded calmly. “Nothing. That’s the point. We weren’t chosen. We inherited. And we carried it the best we could.”

“You carried it alone,” another leader said.

Rin’s gaze swept the table.

“No. We carried it together. With everyone who has ever fought for choice over control. Pain over perfection. Truth over comfort.”

“And we’re not sorry.”

Outside the Chamber – Rooftop Courtyard

The sisters stood under grey clouds, both feeling the weight of decisions etched into their bones.

“Do you think we’ll lose everything for this?” Rae asked.

“Not everything,” Rin said.

Just the easy parts.

Meanwhile – Seoul, Evening

A news alert flashed across a wall screen:

“Do Sisters Refuse Global Demand for Legacy Cache. Official Review Underway.”

Jin Seok turned the volume down, shaking his head.

“They're going to spin it every way they can.”

Kang Jae, typing away at a secure console, didn’t look up.

“Let them. The truth always shows itself. It just doesn’t rush.”

That Night – Legacy HQ

A closed-door meeting. No advisors. No allies. Just the sisters.

They reviewed the fallout reports. Threats. Public opinion swings. Leaked footage.

And one note from an anonymous citizen:

“You chose our future. I still believe in you.”

Rae held it to her chest.

“It’s enough. Just one.”

Rin nodded.

“Let’s keep earning it.”
