Do Rin sat alone in front of a deep-core console, running the neural logs from her replica’s code collapse. She wasn’t looking for damage—she was looking for intention.

The replica hadn’t tried to survive.

Do Rae and Jin Seok sat on the steps of a 24-hour convenience store, sipping hot drinks and not saying much.

Rae’s knuckles were bruised. Her jacket smelled like engine oil and smoke.

Jin Seok didn’t seem to care. He just kept glancing sideways like he still couldn’t believe she kissed him.

“You okay?” he asked.

“I should be. But I’m not.”

She took a long breath.

“There’s always another threat. Always another version of me waiting to ruin everything I’ve built.”

He leaned in a little.

“Then let’s build it stronger.”

She blinked at him.

“You’re not afraid of what I am?”

“I think I’m more afraid of what I’d be if I let you face it alone.”

She didn’t say anything—just let her head fall to his shoulder.

Rin ran the Project Split files through three firewalls and two memory buffers. The deeper she went, the more fragmented the data became.

But there it was:

Female. Age 18. Acquired through “external intervention.” Possesses both cognitive and physical dominance. Outcome: Unstable. Status: Dormant.

A third Do sister.

Or… a clone?

She stared at the screen.

Mi Na had tried again.

And succeeded—at least partially.

“She didn’t just want to copy us,” Rin whispered. “She wanted to perfect us. In one person.”

She slammed the console shut and stood.

“Rae needs to know. Now.”

Rae’s phone buzzed just as she and Jin Seok were finishing a quiet walk.

Unknown number. No caller ID. One text:

“Hello, Trouble.
Remember me?”

Rae stopped in her tracks.

Jin Seok looked at her. “What is it?”

She didn’t answer.
