Unintended Vows- By: Tina Marie
Chapter 1 - The Perfect Day
Eva stood at the entrance of Levilio University, her heart brimming with happiness. The grand university, with its towering purple rooftops and intricately designed windows, had been her second home for the past few years. But today, today was different. Today was the last day.
"I'm so happy today," she whispered to herself, her heart racing with excitement. "This is it. My last day at college." Her eyes sparkled as she looked up at the towering structure. She had everything she had ever dreamed of—her degree, her dream job, and her loving boyfriend, Josh. "Thank you so much, God," she whispered, overwhelmed with gratitude.
Just then, Eva heard a familiar voice call out to her. Turning around, she saw Celine, her best friend, running toward her. Eva smiled, her heart warming at the sight. Despite their past issues, seeing Celine brought back memories of the good times they shared.
"Celine!" Eva called out, waving at her. Celine, looking breathless, caught up to her and embraced her tightly.
“Eva!” Celine responded, her eyes glistening as if she were genuinely happy for her. Behind her, Josh, Eva’s boyfriend, approached with a cautious expression, his hands in his pockets, trying to avoid making eye contact.
Eva beamed. "Josh, I'm so happy today." She moved toward him, wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug. "I have you. I have everything."
Josh smiled awkwardly, returning the hug, but his posture felt tense. Celine, standing a few steps away, crossed her arms and gave Josh a cold, piercing glare. Eva noticed it, her heart sinking just a little. There was something off, but she couldn’t place it.
Eva looked up at Josh, concerned. "Josh, are you okay?" she asked softly. "Why are you avoiding me today?" But Josh simply pulled away from her hug, giving a strained smile.
"Maybe he's just nervous," Eva thought to herself, shaking the unsettling feeling off. After all, today was a big day.
She took a deep breath and decided to change the subject. "Anyway, guys, I’m going to perform today! I'm nervous," she admitted with a slight chuckle, her nerves starting to show. Today wasn’t just her last day at college; it was also the day she’d take the stage for one final performance in front of the whole university.
"You got this, Eva," Celine said, giving her a reassuring smile. But the smile didn't reach her eyes. It was then that Eva noticed Celine's strange behavior—almost as if she were hiding something.
Celine exchanged a glance with Josh before speaking again. "Actually, Eva, we need to talk."
Eva’s heart skipped a beat. "We?" she repeated, feeling a wave of confusion wash over her.
Celine nodded and took a step closer. “Yes. Me and Josh.” She reached out and grabbed Josh’s arm, pulling him closer to her side.
Eva’s world began to spin as she saw the two of them standing together. Her heart pounded in her chest, and an unsettling feeling clawed at her insides.
“What... what’s happening?” Eva stammered, her voice barely audible. She couldn’t understand what was going on. Celine and Josh? The two people she trusted most in her life—her ex-best friend and her boyfriend—standing there, together, as if they were about to drop some earth-shattering news.
Celine’s voice broke through the fog that clouded Eva’s mind. "Eva, we’ve been seeing each other... for a while now."
Eva’s breath caught in her throat. She looked at Josh, hoping he’d deny it, hoping this was all some kind of sick joke. But he looked away, his face riddled with guilt.
"Celine and Josh?!" The words left Eva’s lips in a choked whisper as the weight of betrayal sank deep into her heart.
