Chapter 112 - The Dance of Confessions

Last Updated on 2024-10-10 23:25:52

Another four years had passed and the night of the school dance had arrived, casting a spell of enchantment over the high school’s transformed gymnasium. The theme was "Starry Night Sky," and the venue had been transformed into a celestial wonderland, with twinkling lights resembling stars and crescent moons hanging from the ceiling. The air was filled with the soft strains of romantic ballads, creating an atmosphere ripe for magic and memories.

Riley, Rowan, and Sky entered the ballroom together. Riley’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she looked around at the decorations. “It’s so magical!” she exclaimed, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm. “RoRo, look at all the stars and moons!”

Rowan, dressed in his finest, offered a nonchalant nod. “It’s nice.”

“Can’t you be excited?” Riley asked, her tone a mix of exasperation and amusement.

Rowan sighed, a playful glint in his eye. “I am excited.”

“So boring,” Riley teased, shaking her head.

Sky, standing beside Riley, took her hand in his. “Let’s go dance,” he suggested, a grin on his face.

“Okay!” Riley responded, her face lighting up.

As they moved towards the dance floor, Rowan decided to take a break and headed towards the refreshment table. He glanced back at the pair with a mixture of exasperation and fondness.

I better leave those two dummies alone. They’ve like each other for so long, but are too stupid to say anything, Rowan thought, shaking his head. When will I find someone for me?

Riley and Sky were lost in their own world, swaying gently to the music. Riley’s eyes sparkled as she looked up at Sky, who was equally entranced.

“I’m having so much fun!” Riley said, her voice filled with genuine joy.

Sky smiled, his gaze fixed on Riley. “You look beautiful tonight.”

Riley blushed, her cheeks matching the hue of her dress. “Thanks. You look handsome.”

As they danced, Riley’s excitement was tempered by a growing sense of anticipation. “Sky, I need some air,” she said, her voice tinged with nervousness.

“Let’s go on the balcony,” Sky suggested, guiding her towards the door that led outside.

The cool night air greeted them as they stepped onto the balcony. The moon hung high in the sky, its light mingling with the countless stars that twinkled above. It was a scene straight out of a fairy tale.

Riley felt her heart flutter as she glanced at Sky, who looked equally mesmerized. This feels so romantic. I should finally tell him now, she thought, steeling herself.

Before Riley could muster the words, Sky turned to her, his face a picture of nervous anticipation. He reached out, taking her hands in his. “Umm…Riley…”

Riley’s pulse quickened as she felt his hands tremble slightly. Stinky Sky will ruin my plan. I better hurry and say it first, she thought.

“I LIKE YOU!” Riley blurted out, her voice a mix of urgency and emotion.

Sky stood frozen for a moment, processing her confession. Riley’s face fell as she noticed his stunned silence. “Hey, did you hear me?”

Sky’s eyes widened as the realization of her words sank in. “Did you just say you like me?”

Riley, feeling a pang of doubt, began to pull away. “You didn’t hear me. I guess just forget it.”

“No, I heard you,” Sky said quickly, grabbing her hand to stop her retreat. “You said you like me. No take-backs.”

A radiant smile spread across Sky’s face, and he pulled Riley into a tight embrace. “I’m so happy!” he exclaimed. “You’re finally mine.”

Riley’s heart soared as she looked up at him. Without thinking, she leaned in and pressed her lips against his, sealing her feelings with a kiss.

“You’re also mine now. So, don’t ruin it,” Riley said softly, pulling back, but still close enough to feel his breath.

Sky’s eyes shone with determination. “I won’t…I promise.” He kissed her again, more deeply this time, as if to confirm the truth of his promise.

From a distance, Rowan watched the scene unfold with a satisfied grin. The sight of his little sister and his best friend finally confessing their feelings brought a warm, contented smile to his face. They finally confessed. It’s about time, he thought, feeling a mix of relief and happiness for them.

As the night continued, Riley and Sky danced under the stars, their hearts intertwined in a new, thrilling chapter of their lives. The school dance, with its magical ambiance, had become the backdrop for the beginning of their love story, marked by laughter, romance, and the promise of a future filled with shared dreams.
