Wren’s arms slipped around Connor, her hands grazing the firm muscles of his chest as she drew closer. Her face nestled against his shirt, the soft fabric brushing against her cheek. The comfort of his warmth and the steady beat of his heart made her feel secure in a way she hadn’t known before.

“Are you okay?” Connor asked softly, his voice filled with concern.

“Yes,” Wren murmured, her voice muffled. “This feels nice.”

“Can I rub your back?” Connor offered gently.

Wren hesitated only a moment before replying, “I guess it’s okay.”

Connor’s hand began to trace soothing circles on the bare skin above the neckline of her nightgown. The sensation of his touch made a shiver run through her, a stark reminder of her past. A flash of Trevor’s touch crossed her mind, causing her to tense up.

Connor felt the change in her and immediately paused, concern etched on his face. “Did I make you feel upset?”

“No… I just remembered something,” Wren replied, her voice tinged with discomfort.

“I’m sorry,” Connor said, his hand remaining still.

“Don’t be,” Wren reassured him. “It’s okay, and it’s not your fault.”

Connor hesitated but then resumed his gentle stroking. Wren snuggled even closer, her face buried in his chest, drawing comfort from his presence.

Connor’s thoughts were a whirlwind of happiness. If this is happiness, then I want it all the time. His voice was soft but earnest. “I love you.”

Sleepiness tugged at Wren’s words as she responded, “I love you too.”

In the quiet of the night, Wren found a profound sense of safety in his embrace. Her heart whispered a question, though her eyes were heavy with sleep. “I can trust you, right?”

“Always and forever,” Connor promised.

“You won’t change your mind?”

“Never,” he affirmed with certainty.

“Okay. I believe you.”

A few minutes later, Connor felt the warmth of Wren’s breath slow and steady against his chest. She had fallen fast asleep, her small form relaxing into his arms. The night was calm, filled with the rhythm of their breathing and the soft, comforting silence.

But then, in the quiet of the early hours, Connor woke to a surprising sensation. His body reacted involuntarily as he felt a hand brushing against his intimate parts. He glanced down to see his innocent Sunshine, still asleep, her hand moving unconsciously across his pants.

“Sunshine… ummm… sunshine, wake up,” Connor said, trying to sound as gentle as possible despite his predicament.

Wren stirred slowly, her eyes fluttering open. “What’s wrong? It’s still dark outside.”

“Umm… someone woke me up in a most interesting way,” Connor said, trying to keep his tone light.

Wren’s confused gaze followed his gesture, and she realized her hand had been resting on a very hard erection. Her eyes widened in horror. “OMG!!!!” She pulled her hand back swiftly, scrambling away from him. “I am so sorry!”

Connor couldn’t help but burst into laughter at her adorable, mortified reaction. Wren smacked his arm, her face flushed with embarrassment.

“Don’t laugh at me. It was an accident,” she said, her voice trembling.

“I know,” Connor chuckled, trying to calm her down.

“Really… I didn’t do it on purpose!” Wren insisted.

“I know you didn’t,” Connor reassured her, his laughter subsiding.

Wren’s face remained a deep shade of red as she muttered, “I’m so embarrassed.”

Connor, still trying to regain his composure, decided a cold shower was the only remedy. “Well, I better go take a shower.”

Wren looked at him with confusion. “Why?”

“A cold shower is the only thing that will help me right now,” Connor explained with a sheepish grin.

Wren hung her head, feeling a mix of mortification and guilt. “I really am so very sorry.”

“Shh… it’s okay,” Connor said softly, easing her embarrassment with his gentle tone.

He got up, still chuckling softly, and walked into the bathroom to cool down. Wren was left alone in the dimly lit room, her heart still racing from the unexpected turn of events. She pulled the covers up around her, feeling a deep sense of both regret and relief, hoping the night would offer her more solace and understanding as she awaited Connor’s return.
