Chapter 113 - Love In the Library

The school courtyard buzzed with the usual lunchtime activity, but Riley and Sky were in their own world. As they strolled hand in hand towards their favorite café, their earlier conversation continued to replay in Riley’s mind.

She had missed the reassuring presence of Sky, and now, basking in his warmth, she felt a lightness that had been absent for too long.

“I’m fine,” Riley reassured Sky, her eyes twinkling with genuine affection. “I missed you, handsome.”

Sky’s smile was as radiant as the sun overhead. “I missed you too,” he said, leaning in to press a tender kiss to her lips.

Their intimate moment was interrupted by a familiar voice.

“Ahem. Hmm… I’m here too,” Rowan announced, clearing his throat with a hint of playful annoyance.

Riley laughed softly, her gaze shifting to her brother. “We know, RoRo.”

Rowan’s expression shifted to mock irritation. “Well then, don’t be all lovey-dovey in front of me.”

“Why?” Riley grinned mischievously. “Is someone jealous?”

Rowan’s face betrayed a flash of secret jealousy before he masked it with a casual shrug. “No, I’m not jealous. Just forget it. I’m going to the library to study.” With that, he turned and walked away.

Riley’s smile faded as she watched her brother leave. “Ughhh… he is so frustrating. What a boring log!”

Sky glanced at her sympathetically. “He’s always been that way.”

Riley sighed, a mix of frustration and concern in her voice. “What a waste of a handsome face. I worry about that study-happy brother of mine.”

Sky placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry too much. He’ll be fine. He’s always been this way.”

Riley nodded, though a small frown lingered. “I just want RoRo to be happy too.”

Sky smiled gently. “He will be. Let’s go get some food and eat your favorite dessert to cheer you up.”

Riley’s face brightened with a smile. “Okay… let’s go!”

Hand in hand, they walked towards the café, their laughter mingling with the sounds of the bustling schoolyard.

Meanwhile, in the quiet sanctuary of the library, Rowan was lost in his studies, the world outside a distant blur. His concentration was abruptly broken by a soft voice.

“Umm… excuse me.”

Rowan looked up, his gaze meeting the most enchanting girl he had ever seen. For a moment, time seemed to stand still.

Is this what they call love at first sight? Rowan wondered, his heart pounding in his chest.

The girl tapped him lightly on the shoulder. “Excuse me.”

Rowan snapped out of his daze. “Umm… yes,” he stammered, struggling to regain his composure. “Sorry, I was concentrating.”

“It’s okay,” she said with a warm smile. “I was wondering if I could sit here or would that bother you?”

Rowan shook his head, feeling a rush of relief. “No, it won’t bother me. Go ahead.”

“Thanks so much,” she said as she settled into the seat next to him, placing her books on the table.

Rowan’s mind raced, trying to find something to say. What do I say? I don’t want to stop talking to her. Ughh… my heart is beating so fast.

He took a deep breath, determined to make a good impression. “Umm, I’m Rowan, by the way. What’s your name?”

“I’m Summer,” she replied, her smile brightening the room. “It’s nice to meet you, Rowan.”

Ahhh… my name coming from her lips sounds so nice, Rowan thought, his heart fluttering.

“It’s nice to meet you too,” he said, returning her smile with a genuine one of his own. “If you need any help, just let me know.”

“Oh, thanks. That would be great!” Summer’s eyes sparkled with gratitude.

Rowan’s nerves settled a bit as they began to chat, the connection between them growing with each word. He found himself absorbed in their conversation, captivated by her presence and the ease of their interaction.

As the minutes passed, the library seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them in their own little world. For Rowan, it felt like the beginning of something extraordinary—something that might just change the course of his life.

Meanwhile, outside the library, Riley and Sky enjoyed their lunch, savoring each bite and each other’s company. Riley’s thoughts occasionally drifted to her brother, hoping that his encounter with her friend Summer, that she had secretly sent his way, would bring him the happiness she so dearly wished for him.

As they finished their meal and headed towards their next destination, Riley couldn’t help but feel a sense of contentment. The day was unfolding in ways she hadn’t anticipated, and she found herself looking forward to what the future might hold for all of them.
